Hi, first timer here so I apologize as I’m sure this has been covered. I have a G440 HP block/engine built and runs. Had it 30 years. I was told it was a 6 Pak engine. How do I further decode anything about it? I bought the transmission at the same time from the guy also. Thx for any help.

Let's see some pictures of the vin boss on the passengers side just above the oil pan rail.
Then lets see the cast numbers on both sides that are behind the exhaust.
If you purchased the trans at the same time there is also a vin boss on that.
The vin boss's are on 69 and up motors so if it's pre 69 it won't have the vin boss. but it will still have the cast numbers.

All 70-71 440 magnums were stamped HP with 4 BBL or 6 BBL. Your motor could be a 6 pack but could have been from a C body or B body as well. I've had a 70 and 2 71 Chrysler 300's that had the HP 440 4 barrel TNT motors, and a 70 GTX 440 4 BBL with the 440HP motor.
340 call convert is correct about the part number location, this will tell what it was originally from. the vin is on the passenger side on a raised boss a couple of inches up from the pan rail.

I looked up what cars were made at Lynch Road assembly Plant. Looks like maybe only coronets in 1971 would fit this engine.

Part number 3515850 fits 71 B E bodies 440 6 BBL
I'll keep looking for the part number you supplied

2536430 is the engine block casting number. I should have said the transmission part number from the drivers side pan rail then I could look it up and see what the trans was out of.

G 440 is a 1971 engine. The letter before the displacement is E=69, F=70, G=71. I think the letters before E go back to A=65, the first year of the 440?

There is absolutely no way for sure to tell if that block was originally a 71 440 six pack unless you know the rest of the VIN # stamped on the pan rail.

What harmonic balancer does the engine have?
1970 and on 440 6 pk engines were externally balanced and had heavier rods with the externally balanced crank. Six pak rods (six-pack rods, part 2951906, casting 2951908) came in 1970; with an externally balanced crank (part 3512036)
If you can disassemble and remove one piston, you can check the casting numbers to be sure, and or check out the part number on the crank.
Just a thought!

a 71 440 stamped HP will have the steel crank & heavier 6 pack rods in it & will have a weighted damper , even though it may have never had the 6 pack intake & carbs , just a 4 bbl instead
