I know the defroster duct is bolted on with screws and the lower portion hovers over the AC box. since an actuator bar goes between the duct and AC box, is it just the rubber seal that semi connects the duct or is something missing?

Also is one the vacuum hoses from the AC box supposed to go through the firewall's AC vacuum grommet? if so, does it end there or continue somewhere in the engine?

Thank in advance!

The line that goes through the firewall to the engine is connected at the rear of the intake manifold. There should be a vacuum fitting threaded into the manifold facing the firewall with a port for the heater box vacuum. If you have power brakes then there will be two ports on the vacuum fitting.
