If I remember correctly, it was "melted" into the panel. Try a strong two part epoxy like 3M:

To me it looks like the loose retainer that goes behind the left mirror adjusting joystick assembly on the inside of the door panel. It’s suppose to keep it from spinning when the outer decorative nut is tightened to the door panel.

Thanks,so it slides onto the joystick the put it through the panel and tighten the lick nut

I guess you didn't read the P65 warning. Hope it's not to late as it is for others. Some it's just doesn't matter. Yeah I know I do that too. Miss type too!
