My car is painted Citron Yella which according to a book was only painted in 1971 then discontinued.
Were the High Performance or High Impact colours popular?
How many cars were painted this colour?
Was it an unpopular colour?
Any info or feedback appreciated.

Me and a couple of buddies finished the resto on this one a few years back and I grew to like the color quite a bit by the time it was finished.

Here is my GY3. I have a Govier report from several years ago which shows 3,907 1971 Challenger R/T's built with 6.7% of those painted GY3, or 262. So not real common, but certainly not rare.

I guess from the above info the High Impact colours must have been fairly popular given the owner had to pay an extra $14-$15 for the special paint according to the book. My car is not an RT but I like the colour.

It depends on the color but the years of being offered definitely help. High impact colors were available for 3 years, 69, 70, 71 at a cost of approximately $15. Only EK2 Tor-red/Hemi orange was available for all three years so I would guess that one is the most common but I don't have the stats. Your color has to be one of the rarest as it was only available for one year. The first letter of the paint code tells you the first year it was offered. E=69, F=70, G=71. Your color, GY3 is a 71. EK2 started in 69. EL5 Butterscotch/Bahama yellow is also a 69 but it took a year off in 1970 before returning in 71.

Gorgeous, I wouldn't change a thing!:)
Thanks I really like the car the way it is and I will leave it the way it is.
The photo is a little flattering but the car is reliable and loaded with factory options and dealer installed stuff so I am very happy with it.
I did not realise the High Impact colours were so short lived.

Citron Yella or Curious Yellow is super rare and adds value to any car that was this color originally. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the controversy over it in the 70's due to the soft core **** film that it was named after.

Galen's 6.7% seems a bit high to me, but his numbers are typically based on what's in his registry, not the real world.

BTW, Hemi Orange/Tor Red was still available in 72.
