Hello FEBO,
I am just getting back into this hobby, all this time away from it, so much it seems I've forgotten... I had owned two "71 Challengers, at different times.
A few years ago I was able to get one back, that I bought in 1986 and years later had sold to a friend. He did not use it at all, just dismantled it as a project and it just sat around. (Man does it feel good to say, yeh, "My Car", again!)
It is a 1971 R/T Challenger: Origional 383 Magnum, 4spd (PG handle), 3.23, A/C, pwr front disc brakes, EV2 paint w/matching mirrors, Blk vinyl roof, wide grille surround moulding, and some other options. The seats will be redone to original (H5X9) orange, red, black plaid cloth with black vinyl.
She will be a street cruiser and take my family along for rides as well.
I am planning to add some improvements as to engine, electronic ign, suspension and tires.
Any Experience and or Advice, Deeply Appreciated.
Some of my ideas are to gain back hp that was lost as they detuned for 1971- raise compression to about 9.5-1, 10-1 or so and run pump gas; leaning towards roller cam set up (possibly from Hughes Engines, as they are said to be ground for Mopar specifically, ? ) ; clean up (#346) heads and want to keep the stock intake/exhaust manifolds; exhaust system 2 1/2" with mufflers, resonators and H-pipe.
The rear (#489) would like to convert my diff to a sure grip clutch type, if possible ?
Also plan to replace the 14" road wheels with the 15"x7 or maybe 15"x8 version. Not sure on tires yet, and need to start looking into them as she'll be off the swing soon.
I am trying to post pictures as well .
Thank you,

Welcome to the site! Your story is kinda like mine. Bought my new GY3 (citron yella) in '71, sold it, then got it back. It's a great feeling.

Keep us posted as you move along.

Hi and welcome, it's a piece of cake to change to a clutch unit because you don't have to mess with the pinion only set the backlash again.
