hello, I am having an issue with the fuel line from pump to carb. I purchased a carter fuel pump and it looks to be 1/4 pipe thread. The fuel line is flared fitting 1/4. Problem is that there is nothing in the pint to stop the flare line from sliding in and out. Is there a special fitting that should go into the pump first?

I dont know if i would use that on my fuel line looks a bit flimsy
You can get that in a right angle if it is better suited make sure the flare matches the fuel line flare 5/16 , 3/8 etc
Year one carries them AF424 etc

Do not over tighten the fitting, you can crack the pump housing...

There is a fitting that threads in to the pump and has the double flare seat at the bottom of the outer bit the fuel line nut screws in to.
It should be easy to source. It looks like the fitting Austa has posted.
