Is there any way to verify if the motor and tranny are original? Found a 73 Challenger on a farm full of rust but I know I can give it life again! I have no paperwork other than the VIN and fender tag. Help?

the last 8 digits of the VIN are staped on both engine & trans , the engine is alone the oil pan rail behind the right side engine mount , assuming it is an auto trans the VIN is stamped on a pad on the right side or along the oil pan rail on the drivers side
