Oil preferences are numerous. For conventional oil I like Valvoline 10/30. For synthetic I like any major brand. But, do yourself a favor and read up on ZDDP oils. It is a zinc additive which is beneficial to the cam and lifters... Shell Rotella, a 15/40 Diesel oil, supposedly has it, or you can use a stand alone additive with whatever oil you choose.

If your 360 is stock it should be easy to determine the capacity. Usually 5 quarts, including what’s in the filter. Check it on the dipstick; don’t overfill. So use 4 1/2 qts + 1/2 qt additive, for example....

What year is your 360 ? Is it still stock/not a rebuilt ? If rebuilt, what are the piston/ring and cam /lifter specs for materials ? Has the engine been modified in any way ? Standard capacity is 5 qts. including a full oil filter.
