Paint ?

On a 73 bcuda what parts are painted other than the exterior.... Also what gets undercoating before paint...

It's been covered on other posts here, but the sheet metal unibody and fenders were dipped into primer to the roof line. Then the roof was primed and painted body color if a none vinyl top car. For vinyl top cars a different primer was used and zero paint, just slapped the top on! When painting body color, all the interior is over spray except the door jams. The wheel wells in the fender and quarter panels got undercoating after paint. And when full undercoating was an option it got sprayed onto the bottom panels of the car. The front of the radiator yoke was painted black on bright colored cars by some poor guy in a pit shot upwards at approximately a 45 degree angle.

Since no body color shows inside an E-Body, I agree with most people who "over restore" their cars and put a good coat of paint on the inside compartment and trunk! Then put in a trunk mat even if it came from the factory that way or not as it helps with dents and scratches! If no factory trunk mat, simply take it out prior to showing!

So the insides of the trunk didn't get painted or under coating on the quarter panels inside?

WELL EXCUDAME!!! I had to use it. I like the user name. I dare to differ in my case. Being the second owner. When I replaced the vinyl roof there was a complete coat of paint on ther roof. As I have learded never say never with a mopar. Maybe a new guy or the spray pot had to be cleared for what ever reason who knows.
I can atest to the undercoating on the floor boards. There was very little under spray past the rocker panels. There was bright not rusted metal under the undercoating. J55

As far as the trunk. The was body color sparcely all through out. VLP Verly little paint. That I don't have a picture of, that I know of.

I wonder if it was a painted car and it got pulled off the line to add a vinyl top? But you're right, never say never with Chrysler! But of the dozen or so Challenger vinyl top cars I've owned or help chop up (needed pieces for the circle track Challenger), they were never completely painted. some did have the sail panels painted haphazardly. Personally (and problem most people who own a vinyl top car) wish the factory had painted it before installing the vinyl top. Definitely prown to rusting!

I grew up where hail was an issue, many a dealer threw a vinyl top on a car to hide hail damage.

That could be. The owner said it was ordered and took possession in February of 71. Build date B07
