quarter skins or full panels

I was looking at amd and it seems like the skins are cut from fulls. is there a preference to what should be done? I was always told that the full 1/4 should be changed.

I think it is much easier to get the lines right using a full quarter, but if you know what you are doing you can make the skins work. I opted for a full quarter on my car.

The welding on a full quarter doing plug welds to simulate spot welds is much easier than doing 6 feet of butt welding to splice in a skin.
