Why would you want to leave the forum?
I agree. I can't see the correlation to why you would want to leave the forum.
Because, it seems, after reading back through some posts, we have some conflict here that shouldn't even matter. A matter of bruised egos. Which needs to stop. NOW. We have an ignore list. Use it.
Seems to me that it's a matter of bruised ego, too, about selling the parts.
Don't take the fact that you're not getting the price for the parts personally. For many it's a hobby, not a business, and as such, it's a matter of being able to have the discretionary cash to be able to purchase the parts needed. When you factor in momma, the kids, the dd, all the bills, that doesn't leave a lot left over. That leaves a lot of dreams and dreams cost nothing.
As far as a correlation between the site and this fact... well, then, draw your own, even if it's specious.
I have my own pet peeves with the hobby and these boards at times.
There're great communities, full of people who care, but I have noticed there's a cheapness, at times. There's the serious players, like those putting XV and RMS suspensions in the cars, running expensive 18" wheels, putting Hemi's into A-body's, and then you have guys who ***** that a clean car is fetching top dollar even when that top dollar is reasonable.
I can only listen to (or read of) someone complain so many times that a 340 4 speed Demon just changed hands for $30K before I want to point out that it means a couple of good things: one, the economy is turning around and, two, it means the values of our buggies are coming back up and that means that what I have is now more valuable instead of just being a money pit.
Personally, I like seeing clean cars and parts going for top dollar as it means my cars (once they're restored) are going to be worth more to pass on to my heirs.
On the other hand you have the Barrett-Jackson mentality, with guys who have more money than brains drop top dollar on cars that still need a lot of work to be at the top of the field. And that bleeds over to people's asking prices when they have a car to sell. Asking top dollar for a car that needs complete and total restoration is stupid.
There's a fine line between the two.
But I've also been in the hobby long enough to understand there's going to be conflict between buyer and seller. Seller wants the best price he can get to be able to put more in his pocket. Buyer wants to be able to get the best price
he can get to
keep more money in his pocket. One of the reasons why I never put a solid price on what I have. It's all negotiable. I may start high with a rock bottom, but it leaves room for a deal. If buyer A won't pay my rock bottom price, at least, then I'll pass, knowing I'll get it from buyer B or C.
