Have a 440 and I continually have had the starter wire short to the block and kill the battery. I have tried a couple different starters and all the same problem. Has anyone else ever run in to this?

It does have a quick time bell housing. I don't see how that could be the problem but there has been many problems that I didn't could happen. Any ideas are helpful.

The mini starters put the terminals very close t the block , there is an extension on factory style mini starters that can be unbolted to give more clearance .
If you are using a factory cable often splitting the 2 wires where they are molded together helps a lot as you can change the angle the cable comes into the starter .
Not sure if this helps at all , do you have pictures ?
