Stripe smudges…. Can they be removed?

I have a 1973 Cuda with the black factory side stripes. I made the mistake of using detailer / wax on them…. And depending on what light / angle you look at them in — you see smudges. They don’t seem to want to come out. Anybody ever figure out a way to get them out?

I would try the average house hold cleaner. Ammonia dish soap and water. Later I would use a wax and grease remover.
