Years ago when I rebuilt the 340 motor I took the original convertor out and installed a TCI saturday night special # 141500 rated around 1600 to 1800 stall thinking it was an upgrade. I read on the forums that the stock 340 convertor was rated for more than that. I still have the convertor and the only number I can see on it is the letter B. This car will be used for weekend cruises etc - no racing. Has about 350 horse and 3:55 gears.
Did I do an upgrade by using the TCI convertor?

IMO No
the factory had the 340 cars sorted out very well , I never saw a 383 beat a 340 in stock form .
AT best you went sideways if not worse .

Would it make sense to reinstall it. Its been out of the car since 2013. Would it still be usable ?
