Howdy all!

I've been lurking on this board for awhile, spend most of my time at FBBO since I'm the proud owner of a '74 Charger- pic below. Anyway, looking to add to my Mopar stable- I've always longed for an E Body- but money is pretty tight these days. A couple newbie questions:

Am I right in thinking that the later years, 73-74, are much less valuable than 70-72?

What's the difference in value between Challengers/Barracudas?

Thanks guys, looking forward to being a part of this board! :cya:

Welcome to this forum
As far as value is concerned, all other things being equal, a '70 - '71 cuda is the most valuable followed by '70 - '71 challengers. Same goes for the '72 - '74's, cudas are worth more than challengers.
The biggest difference between the two is that the plymouth has a two inch shorter wheelbase than its dodge counterpart, just like the "B" bodies. Mechanically '70 - '74 "E" bodies and '71 - '74 "B" bodies are identical. Same motor, trans, rearend, k member, so a lot of the parts you might have for your '74 might come in handy on an "E" body.
Nice charger, I've always liked those "E" bodies with a back seat. My first car was a '71 charger and I've probably had at least a dozen of them over the years. I would buy another one in a heartbeat if the right deal came up on the right car.

Welcome to FEBO Pabster, from the Motor City! Great to have you over here. acguy is correct about Challengers vs Cudas but there not Too far apart in demand and value. I myself prefer a Challenger for `70, it's a tie for `71 and I would have to go for a Cuda for `72-4. My 2 cents.

Nice car, I've never been a "numbers" guy, so to me the most valuable car is the one that you want to build in your head and the closest you could find for what you could afford. Most search for all original, numbers matching, low production number Hemi, then Six-Pack, then Big Block, then 340 cars. Me, give me a clean 318 car that I could cut up and build the way I thought it should be done "back in the day". Don't get me wrong, if I got a phone call saying "Uncle Jasper from Iowa passed away and left you his 1970 B5 blue Hemi four speed convertible with 500 mile on the odometer, even though you have never met him", I would certainly not turn it down!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome, folks!

I'm with you, CudaKeith- my Charger is a stock 318, which is not too bad on gas and great for cruising. I'm way past my wild days of hauling ass, so a clean small block Challenger/Cuda would be right up my alley. I'm not a huge numbers matching purist either, although I am all about stock whenever possible- not into mods or upgrades when it comes to my vehicles. Less problems and issues means more time to enjoy the drives!
