Trunk Lock Cylinder help needed

He brothers and sisters, finishing my restoration and for the hell of me, I can not get the new trunk cylinder to work? anyone have photos or video they can share.....I will be so grateful.

Does the lock cylinder work/turn with the key at all?

the spring and rod came off and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to have it stay on. The lock turns fine with the key in though
