Ok so reading for years about one of the most popular tires size (275/60/15) and rim size (15x8) 4.50 backspace you can get to fit on a E Body, I went and sourced and purchased Wheel Vintique Steele rims.
15x8 with 4.50 backspace and BF GOODRICH 275/60/15 tires. And Plymouth Division dog dish hub caps.....

Well they are not even close to fitting they rub both sides of my wheel wells, and nothing now is returnable.

These were getting installed on my 1971 440/6 barrel Cuda with original 8 3/4 sure grip rear end.

Now I need to find the next best fit tire that's definitely going to fit this combo.ll

That’s odd. Those suckers should fit. What kind of a rear suspension are you using?

I have a 71 Cuda and run 275/60X 15 with the stock Rally wheels and a Dana 60 and they fit fine. I also have BF Goodrich tires.

Factory 8 3/4 rear end it came with

They only change is I have the XHD leaf springs which wouldn't effect tire fit.

Did you order zero offset?
It's possible there is (too much) negative offset. That would push the tires out.

I have had 295 in a stock wheelwell , was the body rebuilt with new 1/4s ever ? a 275 should never be wide enough to hit both sides of the wheel well .
I actually hate the look of BFGarbage tires in that size , they are too tall & the tires are at best poor quality .
I use a 275 / 50 Nitto 555 tire on the rear of my car it has a shorter diameter & far better traction .

Why they make waaay too much $$ from the junk they sell .
I have witnessed them lasting less than 200 miles from new before they come apart . I have also found them to be more than 1/4" out of round when brand new , rather than exchange them the tire store had a grinder to cut the tread down until they were round , so almost 1/2 of the tread was removed on portions of the tire to make it round so the front end would not vibrate on the highway !
Calling them junk is almost a compliment for what they should be called .
DOT should be banning their sale . They are dangerous ....

BF Goodrich TAs used to be all the rage back in the day, I still have a set on my 70 Challenger. I suppose like everything thing, quality slides at the expense of the consumer.

I should have tried to source the f60 15 that came on the car in a radial. The poly glass tires are horrible

That is strange. I have two sets of the same tires. The rh side is always close to clearing but does, on all the ebodies I’ve had.
one set is on 15x7 rallye wheels and the other on US racing 15x8. Recheck the offset because if all is original, they should work. Even measure the tires as well. The BFG’s work well for me cruising. But that’s it.

275/60s should fit with no issue (I had them on my 73 Challenger). Either the wheel specs are off or the rear isn't the original.

I have the same size on a 7 inch wheel works great had seen on a 71 guy even said then make sure wheel is 7 inch, he was right. Good Luck

They should fit! I have 15x8 Torque Thrust wheels and 275/60/15 BFG tires on the rear of my Challenger. I ordered them with a 0 offset (4.5' inch back set) and they fit perfectly in the wheel well.

I suspect incorrect parts somewhere.

Maybe some close up pics of springs, mount etc, would help someone spot something or help out. Simply shouldn’t be the case ???! And a straight edge across the backside of the wheel lip with a tape measure from the inside mounting surface.

Rims Tires
Front: 17 x 8 245/45/ZR17 9 full inches of tread width.
4.75" backspace Continental Extreme Contact Sport
Rear: 17 x 9.5 275/40/ZR17 10 full inches of tread width.
5.50" backspace Continental Extreme Contact Sport
Suspension is stock with the ecception of weld on stiffners for lower control arms and a few poly bushings to stiffen a couple of things.I did a lot of measuring and measuring again, but in the end I ended up with exactly what I wanted. tires fit like a glove. 1/2 " of clearance between tire and leaf and 1/2 " between tire and wheelwell

You don't really order wheels by offset. The offset you end up with is totally determined by rim width and back space.
