Hey guys, Here is my 70 RT Challenger with stock wheels. I'm looking to change these out. I'm a bigger fan of the Magnums personally. Anyone local got a good set to trade? In Wisconsin.

Dang. I guess it comes down to personal preference. My car doesn't have a build sheet. I don't recall when decoding it whether the Ralley wheels were part of fender tag. If I recall, it only declares the wheel type on the build sheet. I'd check myself but the car is 1 hour away getting a few odds and ends handled that our outside my mechanical scope. I guess what I'm saying is, I don't feel I'm doing the car an injustice by putting 500's on it.

Anyone got thoughts on this?

The only injustice that you would be doing is putting something or leaving something on the car that you don’t like. It is your car, it is not going in a museum. Enjoy the car. I was told by several people that I should go which the steel wheels, dog dish and red lines but I didn’t think the car looked as good as it did with the billet specialties on it, so that is the direction I went! Like I said, it is your car. Enjoy it!

That Sir is good advice. I can always put the rally wheels on a shelf. Maybe my taste will change. I sure wish more guys would post some pictures on this chat, with this rim, tire sizes and spacing. I sure as heck don't want to cut any metal on an original 70 RT. No offense to the guys with the rally wheels either. I'm sure some guys don't care for the plum crazy paint on my car. I wasn't sure about it at first, but when I seen the car in person it really grew on me.

I mix it up between the different stock wheels (Magnums, Rallyes, steelies) and Cragars on my Chargers and Road Runner. Also have Weld Magnum 2.0's on the Challenger.

Where did you get your steel wheels. I have a good used set of 14” ralley but I want to change to a 15x7 or 15x8 steel with redline dogdish center caps. I have 4 NOS redline dogdish caps but the 15” inch steel wheel is back ordered at Coker with no suggested deliver date. I would love to find a nice set of steel wheels and not be forced to wait. I’m open to trade or purchase with or without mounted tires.

I have run three different wheel combos over the years.
Centerlines were from SuperShops for those that remember that speed shop franchise.
Summit sells the steelies. I run 15x7 front with 245/60 and 15x8 rear with 275/60 BF Goodrich or Goodyear Polyglas F60's front and rear.

All of them look good to me. Nothing like a Challenger. But I will post my ‘70 B Body Coronet R/T 440 4-speed Convertible out there. I liked the Ralley look but my factory ones are 14’s and that looked small on the car. I love the appearance of the 500’s but so many have that look, do I decided to go old school and color match because that Top Banana Yellow with black stands out and putting on the wheels makes the car look lower to the ground and the 15x8 all around fills the wells!

Before: AFTER:

I have (4) NOS redline dog dish caps to put on still but we just finished stroking the engine and doing a complete restoration on the front end and have adjustments to do yet. Fresh paint to engine bay after rust repair behind hood hinges, fenders and hood. Restored the Ramcharger box and blended the paint back on the doors, rechromed all the chrome.

Weld Rodlites on mine, 15x8 on the rear and 15x7 on the front. These wheels have been on this car since 2002. Tires are BFG T/A's 275/60x15 rear and 235/70x15 0n the front. They have also been on the car since 2002 and are getting changed out soon.cuda22.jpg

I want to think 4.5 on backspacing. But would have to look it up to be positive.
What tire sizes and back spacing is this setup? Looks great! Would love to see more pics if you have them
