Anyway to gain room between water pump and rad

I've seen similar questions posed in the past, but the threads are old and I'm hoping someone figured something out. I recently bought a shroud and Spal electric fan that is made to mount to my Champion radiator but measurements show I'll need a little more space. Other than an electric water pump, has anyone found any other solutions? An electric pump is more than I want to get into right now. It's on a 440. Thanks

It’s definitely close but, a shroud with provisions for offset double fans may work.
I’m running dual Spal electric fans on mine with a controller. These pix may give you an idea. Good luck Iguana

Probably too late, but why are you putting in electric fans? Get rid of that knife cutting fan and put in the factory fan and shroud.

Seems like a few people have got the dual fan setup to fit. That's the direction I think I'll try next if I can't get what I have to fit. Thanks

Probably too late, but why are you putting in electric fans? Get rid of that knife cutting fan and put in the factory fan and shroud.

I have the Holley Sniper system which will control the electric fan. I like mixing old and new and seeing how efficient it can get.

Something to think about, with just one fan it’s on or off. With dual ( and controller) fan 1 can come on at a given temp, fan 2 at a higher temp. Same with cycling off. With one big fan, it seems to pull a lot of amps. I don’t notice when my fans go in and out. Worst case, it does look like a factory shroud and fan would fit. Just looking at the pic. Staggered electric units are great. Especially if you live in the deep South. To our Northern breathern, a 40 or 50 over big block builds big heat in Alabama. Standard fan with a good clean cooling system works, until you do stop light to stop light and the asphalt under you is 120 to 130 degrees. I opted for 2 fans for my Champion rad. Block is 440 and 40 over. Will wait and see what 104 degress at 95% humidity is like. One size does not fit all. Would be nice and cheaper if it did.

Remember that fans are only for low speed driving ( under 45 mph) and idling. Over 45 and they do nothing. The air is being forced into the radiator at higher speeds faster than a fan can, so no effect.
The main advantage of electric fans is no HP drain because of the fans drag on the engine.

Stop light to stop light here is 40mph. And yep, thats when the clutching action in a fan blade kicks in, around 45. Except mine. I tweaked the mechanism to drop at 40.

You can gain real estate IF and a big IF, you go to a fiberglass hood. Gut the hood latch hardware and move the radiator forward. Lots of chopping and bracing, but I am doing just that!!!! Yep, I have a glass, Pinned hood, so won't need all the latching hardware in the front.... Not sure you want to do that much work.... Best of luck with the project.

Guess you could keep the metal hood and pin it too. then no need for the latching either!!!!

Ended up taking it in to a great shop. He was able to flatten out the shroud's mounting flange and got it all to fit. Tight fit, but works great.
