Tariffs or no Tariffs?

Good day folks, I'm in Canada and in the middle of a restoration. I have a lot of new parts that I need to buy and most vendors are in the US. Anyone buying parts lately, are you paying Tariffs on your parts?

I might be wrong, but I think classic car parts fall under the current USMCA trade agreement and are currently tariff free. Of course that doesn't stop some folks from capitalizing charging more for their parts!

People are not being honest about tariffs and most don't really understand them, so I'll supply an example with round numbers.

Nike tennis shoes made in China costs $100 at Big 5 Sporting Goods in the US. That same shoe costs $10 to make in China, so the retail markup is $90. Slap a 100% tariff on the shoe and it now cost $20 ($10 to make plus $10 for the 100% tariff). So the retail can either eat the tariff and make $80 instead of $90 or they can pass the tariff onto the consumer and charge $110 for the tennis shoe. The retailer would really be dishonest if they charged 100% increase for the shoe at $200!! Any company claiming to charge the complete tariff on their products are not being honest with claims of 40% tariffs. It sounds like some parts will increase 40% in price and that's just not true! Believe me, there are a lot of people making big money having product built in China (cheap labor and cheaper materials) and then marking them up big time to sale in the US and Canada.

I have not seen any, and I buy chineseium stuff occasionally, thats to US, OP is from Canada, may be a different story there.

For 80 years every other country has charged the USA tariffs and other taxes and it was good for them. Now the USA has started charging tariffs and it's some how bad? We're the biggest consumers in the world because even with all our faults, the USA is the freeist country and we are allowed to invent and create.
Notice how all the countries that have made trade deals are paying the USA tariffs and the USA is paying zero tariffs! You want to sell in America, you have to pay! Imagine no federal income tax in the USA once (if?) the national dept gets paid off! Sorry, off my soapbox now.

no income tax would be incredible, being self employed, paying an additional tax on top of income tax is B.S. my taxable is 32% last year, that's a hell of alot of Mopar parts. The country rides on the backs of the middle class, imagine what the extra influx into the economy would produce, would be a hell of a good thing for everyone here.
