Did a 70 Barracuda have seat belt retractors? I had a 70 Barracuda and I don't remember it having retractors. The photo is the passenger side. The seat doesn't slide back and forth properly because of the retractors. The side cover for the seat does not fit properly because it hits the retractor. Are the retractors flipped? Passenger side on the drivers side and vise versa? Can I just remove them? Thanks

The OEM belts on the 1970 Barracuda has a retractable front lap belt. it is hidden below a mound under the carpet. When replacing them with aftermarket, they nearly all have a retractor of some type, but few are the hidden-type below the mound in the carpet.

I'm going to replace the carpet so I can relocate the retractor. The main problem, I can't move the seat back and forth. Thanks

Those belts do not look correct. They should be under the carpet with a white plastic cover that the carpet goes over. Just the metal retractor housing and the plastic "slit" piece is all there is. I think that black housing is the problem.

I don't recall ever seeing the type of retractor you have in an E-body. I agree it should in a a plastic housing under the carpet.

if it's not obvious to the reader, the seat belt retractor pictured in post #1 is not original for the 1970 Barracuda.

I was thinking these retractors are from a different car. The ones in the photo, look like the belts I had in my other Barracuda. Thanks

Here are the belts currently in the car. Definitely not the correct retractor.

I think I have a pair of ‘70 only retractors available but not the plastic covers that go under the rug.

If no one here has the covers for sale, there's several on Ebay for sale right now.

when it comes to covers (the plastic mounds) and screws and bezels, these are available aftermarket. I needed nearly a full set of seatbelts, and they are hard to find OEM in good shape, and very pricey. I found all those parts on pgclassic.com, and I'm really pleased with how OEM they look, compared to other aftermarket options.

The ones in the first picture, that you currently have in your car, are 1970 B Body.

Do you know which company manufactures these re-production seat belt sets?

Would you mind posting a picture or two of the seat belts that you received from PG Classic? There are a lot of differences that originals have, that are not like the illustration posted.
Thank you!

No, But I ordered a set from PG Classics, and the belts are really nice.

Please share some of those differences. I welcome learning more. I chose this set because it matches the standard OEM buckle and tips for my 1970 Barracuda better than any other set I've looked at.

Chrome ends, and stitching pattern.
