Here's some pics of my Challenger project that is on hold because of the 67 Cuda I am building on FABO. I came to a stopping point last year because I needed to find quarters and fenders for the car. I have since gotten a good deal on both so now it's just waiting for room in the shop.
I will leave the details out to see if some of you guys can figure out what I did. :icon_cool:

I'm guessing he dropped the chally body over a chevrolet or other full frame chassis of some type with alot of custom fab work. It is Frankenstein.

I will have to get some more pics of the suspension parts. From the rear also. I have had people ask why it doesn't have 2 more cylinders in it. Cuz. lol The engine is a 69 340 with a complete fuel injection system fitted from a 92 Dakota, runs mint. Has an adapter plate and a T-56 6 speed from a Viper.

Any more guesses? :)

Oh, and no brand X parts were used in the building of this car.

After looking at the pictures, my guess would have been a Dakota or Durango R/T, injected 5.9 but I kept looking at the different guesses and you took part of the wind out of my sales. The 6 lug wheels were the give away. For Pike's Peak or what ?

O.K. I'll spill the beans. I had a 70 340 Challenger I bought many years ago for parts. It was really rusty so I never thought about "saving" it. Time goes on, it's sitting out back in the weeds next to a wrecked Viper frame......... I walk by one day a light bulb comes on. So, one nite sitting at the computer I start looking up dimensions, etc. The floor pan width of the E-body is the same width as the Viper. The Challenger is 14" longer than the Viper. I had enough frame parts to put a lengthened frame together and sit the Challenger body on it.
A lot of guys told me to put a Viper engine in it but I already had the 340 freshly rebuilt and wanted to see if I could get the F.I. system from a junked Dakota to work well enough to track the car. Surprisingly, runs really well for the bigger cubes. Might have to up the injector size a little.
When I get it back into the shop, I will take a bunch of pics of all the mods done to the body. Finally sourced some new quarters and front fenders to finish the body transformation. Now, I just need more time.:headbang:

Found a really rusty, ratted out 73. Gonna use it for a few sheet metal pieces I need and pretty much scrap the rest. Now I'm all antsy to get the Chally back in the shop!!!!:icon_super:

SNKEBIT, I really like this and the concept, keep the updates going. I like the SB, 5 speed fuel injection idea, I bet this thing will tour very nice.

Well, it took a while but Challenger is back in shop. Traded it to my future son in law for an enclosed trailer. I will never have time to finish it. Still in the family tho!!!! The kid is old school tho and fits right in with this project. So I'm teachin him how to build a hotrod. lol Here we are giving the fenders and quarters some bulge so the Viper wheels fit and turn under weight. A little more involved than the TA cars of the 70's but I like the look and the S-I-L loves it!!!

This last shot you can see the metal we had to add to get the distance needed for clearance. Still a lot of welding and grinding to go!!!!!!!!!!! He will be a pro by the time this one is done. :)

Worked on the dash today. Had to extent it towards the pass compartment about 6". Fabbed up some fill pieces to get that result. Lots of welding and grinding needed yet to clean it up. The Viper frame positions the driver about 6" back in the pass compartment. No back seat. LOL

Got some new parts for the Challenger. The rear panels were either rusted away or in such bad shape we decided to replace them. They are cheap Taiwan stuff but we are doing so many modifications that making these fit will be easy. lol

The original light panel has been straightened and bondo'ed too many times!

Here you can see how close the rear bumper brackets for the Viper frame came to the Challenger tail panel. The iper rails are 3" shorter than the Challenger. We are going to make custom fill pieces here to reach the tail panel using 16 gauge sheet metal so it will be nice and strong to attach the bumper. We are thinking the bumper will be flushed out with the body.

How do you like our fender braces? :)

Will install tail light panel in the morning. Then have to fab up the filler piece between the tail light panel and the valence. Also have to fill the original bumper bracket cutouts. They will no longer be needed.
