LED conversion of brake and turn signal bulbs

converted front turn signal light bulbs to LED. worked....installed LEDs in rear --brake and turn signal. nothing works including front signal bulbs...do I need to do something to the electrical system to get the LED bulbs to work..do they draw more current??? do I need a heavy duty flasher unit?? 2. fan is on all the time with ignition on. even in the off position. And make sure you attach the black wire to a good ground.

By the way, I’ve seen them sell as low as $10.

fan is on all the time with ignition on. even in the off position.

What fan? The one for cab air?
Keep battery disconnected until you resolve it.

In shot you have a short. Bad ign sw or melted wire from battery to amp gauge feeding the acc side of sw. Or the wiring was altered at sometime.

Pull the fuse see if turns off. Unplug this connector under the steering column. If the fan stays on, you have a short in the dash wiring harness. If not it's the ign sw.

The blower motor is feed from acc side of fuse box. It's a misnomer showing battery. Not directly connected to battery.

Might be just a bad sw.

You may already know this, but the original mechanical flashers rely on the higher electrical resistance of incandescent bulbs to operate. The LED bulbs can draw considerably less current. An electronic flasher is often needed to overcome this issue.

That said, in my experience, the LED bulbs will still light up, when making a turn indication, but they wouldn't flash.

It has to be the one with a ground wire or a third prong for a ground wire. A 2 prong electronic flasher still won't work with LEDs.

I upgraded my rear to led without changing the flasher. I did get the highest wattage bulbs, ie brightest ones I could find. Maybe that is why I didn’t need to change the flasher

I've always thought many of the 1970 Barracudas with their three-section tail lamps were never bright enough. Any tips on which wattage you used?

Yeah, mine worked fine with just the brake light bulbs changed to LED but when I changed the front park lights the flasher wouldn't work anymore.
