16" or 17" Rally Wheels

17" rallye rims have been out of stock for a long time.
I would prefer 16" but I think I will be stuck with 15". 17" I found but they are all aluminum. I want to make the wheels look original but larger. Trying real hard to keep that look. Even the engine look. Its going to be the 318 but its going to have much more power.

With 16" rims, you are limited with tire choice. 17" have more options

...and 18 have more tire choice than 17, and 16s are getting harder and harder to find and 15 selection sucks. Its a bit of a wild goose chase as tire manufactures continue to evolve the performance tire genre.

IMO, stay with 15s, get a nice cosmetic performance tire, driver it regularly and try to wear it out before it dry rots.

The factory Rally wheels, regardless of rim size, 14" or 15" no other options use the "exact same wheel center."
It was either mated to a 14" rim or a 15 " rim during production. Same part.
Only difference is if it was to be used on some A-bodies with 5 on 4" pattern
Before 15" repros were made, thousands of common 14" Rally's had the center welds cut out on a lathe and then were rewelded into either wider 14" or 15" outer rims.
Off sets were easily altered before welding.

I had several sets made for me in the 70's 80's using 15" GM outers. I
In those days those stamped steel wheel were almost just scrap metal , they were so plentiful.
I would take the local wholesale wheel shop several sets of 14" Mopar Rally wheels ( everybody took them off and tossed them" back then for "Mags".
Used mainly 15X7" Blazer rims. New dealer take-offs for the outers.
Paid average of $25. per rim for the new 15" outer rims and conversion.
Used cheap, 7" GM beauty rings
