My parking brake pedal won't return on my 1972 Cuda. Just limp and e-brake light on. Can stick toe under and pull back but it flops back down. I was under the impression that there was a return spring in the parking brake assembly in the car but can't find good reference to in parts manual or online.

Thanks,

The springs are built onto the cables inside the drums , the 72 uses 4 cables , 1 at each wheel , a center loop cable & the front cable , there should be a a guide on the passenger side & a hook on the trans crossmember & an adjuster on the cable to the pedal everything should be snug without dragging the brakes . are the wheel cables seized ?

I had the same problem with my emergency brake pedal after I refurbished the assembly. If what Chryco Psycho said to do doesn't fix your problem, then a small spring may have broken or become disconnected inside the pedal assembly. Sorry I don't have my pictures to post, they are on a thumb drive and I don't have it. I will try to describe the issue I had, sorry for the poor terminology of the internal parts etc..
There is a small spring inside the pedal assembly. When you press the pedal the teeth from the pedal part lock into the holding gear and that keeps the pedal in place. When you release the the emergency brake, the small spring keeps tension on the holding gear and the teeth on the pedal part which holds it in the up position. The spring is located at the top of the pedal assembly and may be hard to see when it is in the car. Once again, sorry I don't have any pictures to really get the point across.
