4 speed vin stamped with star

So I was going through several 4 speeds writing the vins down. One of the 4 speeds is from a 1970 Lynch road B Body. It has the VIN stamped as it should, but has a star stamped before and after the vin#. I have dealt with lots of Mopar 4 speeds and never seen this. Anybody seen this before or know a explanation for it. Just curious. Thanks Kevin
