Interesting; It seems like the average TA Challenger price is a little lower then the AAR Cuda prices at the auction.

My same thoughts. I tried to access Mecum's T/A Challenger auction sale prices but it requires a password. Thought possibly Mecum brings higher auction prices for T/A Challengers than BJ in Scottsdale.

Thanks for putting the numbers from Scottsdale together:

I had started to put together TA Challenger prices from Mecum's actual sales from 2015-2017

Again, Interesting comparison, even to the other auction house: Prices for TA's seem to be in the same ranges

Challenger TA's sold prices 2017

- TA Challenger auto, plum crazy 76k no sale
- TA Challenger auto, red 72k miles 57K
- TA Challenger 4sp, red 77.5K
- TA Challenger auto plum crazy, w build sheet 65K no sale
- TA Challenger auto Y1 yellow w houndstooth interior 65K no sale

Challenger TA sold prices 2016

- TA Challenger 4sp red, 14.8K miles original not restored 82K
- TA Challenger 4sp, red/white 57.5K
- TA Challenger auto, panther pink 65K no sale
- TA Challenger 4sp burnt orange, build sheet 80K

Challenger TA sold prices 2015
- TA Challenger 4 sp red, Mr. Norm's car orig docs 75K
- TA Challenger 4sp, lime green 65k not sold
- TA Challenger auto, red matching numbers 63K
- TA Challenger 4sp, matching numbers 90K

Here's an interesting tid-bit. The average auction sales price (disregarding 5% of high & low sales) for a 1973 Challenger based on data from a total of 92 auction sales at Barrett-Jackson, Mecum and Carlisle are: 340cid/240hp $28,019 and 318/150hp $17,300.

Funny how the sale prices fluctuate so much. Definitely seeing a downward trend. I should probably stop putting so much money into the restoration of my Top Banana 4-speed #s matching w/build sheet, T/A registry and documentation. Let's hope the values return someday...

If you are restoring a car to sell, don't plan on getting the return on your money any time soon. Always cost more to restore than to buy one done especially if you are not doing most of the labor yourself. But then you miss out on the fun part and seeing what you have accomplished1

So true. I only restore cars for myself and not for resale. I do most all of the work myself because I truly enjoy the process from research to assembly and everything in between.

There is a TA Challenger similar to yours that is for sale by a dealer listing in Hemmings Motor News.
Looking for 99K with some documentation and fully restored. It is a two tag car.
Prices are really all over the place.

I always like the way dealers describe the car; It like reading poetry or a novel!

Just to make a comparison, I went back to Mecum TA sales prior to 2010 to see how things have been long term.
Some of the sales were almost 10 years old or older
Looks like sales really improved a little since the 08 financial crash
There were a lot of no sales on the TA's back then.

2009 Mecum TA Sales
- TA Challenger go mango, auto, # match 48k no sale
- TA Challenger green, 4 sp 48k no sale
- TA Challenger panther pink 4sp 72K

2008 Mecum TA Sales
- TA Challenger panther pink 4sp 70K no sale (wonder if it was the same car that sold in 2009?)
- TA Challenger b-5 blue auto 55K no sale
- TA Challenger Go mango 4sp 90k no sale (this guy was really off for the market at the time; didn't really want to sell?)
- TA Challenger panther pink 4sp 80K
- TA Challenger sassy green 4sp w non original engine 65k no sale
- TA Challenger sassy green 4sp matching numbers w 43k original miles 67k

2007 Mecum TA Sales
- TA Challenger y1 yellow 4 sp, numbers match 77,175K

Wish I had a crystal ball for market projections. What is amazing is the off-shore market for classic Mopars. The tariffs and shipping add a lot to the final cost.

It is amazing how many Mopars end up in Europe. There is actually a Swedish registry w car info and serial numbers. I found it when I doing research on where and who imported my old 70 RT SE 440 to Sweden.

The amount of American collector cars going to the EU makes me wonder. Shipping is $2,000 to $3,000, Value Added Tax (VAT) is 5-7%, registration fees TBD by country of residence, possible sales tax. The vehicle must be 30 years or older and original - no modifications to chassis, steering, brake system, engine, etc. The probability of these cars ever coming back is ?

For you numbers maniacs out there; Here is the list of 70 Challenger TAs exported to Sweden from their registry
Lists serial number, year imported and trans: manuell or automat
There are 20 TA's listed in the registry for Sweden. Google on line translator made them readable (unless you speak Swedish of course)

Look under the registry section
Really interesting to see what was imported.
