Brake Rear Cylinder Questions

Guys,

Rear cylinder questions:

- Is the cylinder the same part number for 10" and 11" rear brakes? Are the cylinder pushrods same or different length?

- Is there a gasket that goes on the cylinder to seal against the backing plate? I've seen some with and some without.

No. The size of the pistons in the cylinders are a different size. 11" are not very common and should not be used with front disc brakes only 4 wheel drums.

The wheel cyl pins are the same for 10 or 11"

Correction, 9" are 1" bore and 10" ,11" are 1 3/16" bore .

Check your FSM!
My recollection is that both 10" rear, and 11" rear use a 15/16" cylinder, and they are interchangeable.

Ok, I just checked my '71 FSM, 15/16" is correct for 10" and 11" REAR wheel cylinders.
And if you have rear lock-up issues, you need a smaller rear cylinder. I used one from a pick-up.
