Hello, I just joined and hope to gain some information from members. My first question is how can I confirm my 1970 is a real R/T?
Thanks

The fifth character in the VIN is your engine code (JH23G for example is a 318):

C = slant 6
G = 318
H = 340
L = 383 2 BBL
N = 383 4 BBL
U = 440 4 BBL
V = 440 6 Pack
R = 426 Hemi

I believe all R/T cars had U, V, or R engines in 1970. In '71, H code engines were in R/T cars. Not sure if those were 6 pack or 4 BBL 340s.

Welcome to FEBO from the desert. It doesn't have to be an R/T to enjoy it!

HooToTheCore, base R/T engine was the "N" 383 for 70 and 71. :)

Welcome, I lived in Delaware for years. Now in Pa, north of Philly. Always glad to see another Mopar in the area!

You're right, I mistakenly left off the 383 R/T engine.
I agree. I have a 2010 R/T and wanted to have the "set" and that's the reason I sought an R/T. The seller put badges on it. I noticed too late the grill R/T was to the left of the word Challenger. It's a project car for me.

Thanks, I see it picture now. This car was born with a 318. It was not an R/T.
