Howdy all....I creep around here some...thought Id share my project....originally was a yellow with black interior 4 speed 340 rally car.....perty solid for a michigan car...I dragged it back to ohio two years ago and have been working on getting it back on the road...when I got it the motor was blown up...it sat since the mid 80's in a garage...still had a brand new set of eagle st's on it with the stickers! only shows 67K on the ticker...luckily the car was undercoated when new so the underneath is solid with the exception of the drivers side front floorboard. Well the bad part...no fender tag..no build sheet....the motor is from a 73 and the transmission is from a 70 (not a hemi unfortunately)....I have most of the parts to get her back together.motor rebuilt and what not...the last pic with the shinny wheels are what it looks like now.....I plan on sticking a 70 grill in it and painting her white..I dont feel so bad about it since its not a numbers matching car and no build sheet/fender tag...

Welcome aboard. You will need to replace the front fenders to install a 70 grille. 70's headlight buckets are in the fenders. 72-74 headlamp buckets are in the fiberglass grill.

Yea I know...I've been debating and researching it since I brought it home. Just not a fan of the 72 grill...I just couldn't find a nice 4 speed 70 project that wasn't $$....i just have to weld that piece in from a scrap fender..I think I have access to a scrap set...not a huge project...my fenders from my 72 are super nice so I might just sell them and buy a set of 70 ones who knows. I'm not that far yet...getting the engine bay painted and the motor in is tops on the list..

Thanks for the welcome....I guess what are your guys thoughts on putting a 70 grill in my car...from what Ive seen it doesnt hurt the value of it...it seemed to help it...Im going to have the 72 grill painted with the rest of the car so if I ever sell it the next owner can put it in...

I absolutely prefer the earlier grilles on the Challenger so I say do it. I don't think it will hurt the value at all, not on this car.

I am very sorry to hear of your losses too. I do know how tough that is as I've had people close to me lose their spouses. The car can be a good distraction and it's looking great.

I've been back on the car here and there...got the steering colum painted and the bushing upgrade done....the dash is almost done (rewired and led bulbs in). I'm working on putting the aux gauges in....I'm not going to run a heater so I decided to put the gauges there....waiting on someone to help with my headliner so I can put the interior back in...should have the motor ready next month....sloooooowwww process! Well almost 4 years...the car hasn't been on the road since 1985 so what's another month or two!
