is a high 11 sec 1/4 mile possible

I just moved to san diego and looking to go to the track soon but i have made some upgrades hoping to get in the high 11s but low 12s would be ok ..
my 74 challenger is 3400 lbs with me in it i have a 340 with edelbrock heads 63cc 9.5 compression forged eagle crank a deep ported air gap intake from hughes along with a their cam

i am also running a 4 hole 1 HVH inch spacer with a 750 proform dobble pumper and electric fan aluminum drives shaft , pinion subber with gas shocks in the rear , i am also running 3.91 posi with a rebuilt 904 trans shift kit 2500 rpm stall for ignition i running a accel disturber with a revnator ignition box what should i put my rev limiter at ? i have a 26 inch bfg tire on it right now with 15 inch aluminium rims what would be the best tire for traction ? do i need more gear then the 3.91 ?

That combo and weight sounds like a mid to low 13 second sea level car depending on traction and height of tire could even be high 13s@ 95-100mph guestimate keep us posted, and for your question on traction use drag radials or short slicks, I use M & H racemaster street tires and just dry burn them to clean them off and run low 11's so they hook great and should hold your car to the track too, tried BF Goodrich drag radials and on my setup I lost 6 tenths et they didn't hook good at launch,

were did you get your M&H tires ? the car ran 12.60-12.70s with BF Goodrich tires on it

hughes does offer a fully ported Air gap intake... i was thinking about that ... i just got the port matched one when i bought it

what my heads are flowing that i bought from hughes elivation of the track would be 600ft above sea

Hi, to run low 12's@110-3400lbs you will need that motor to make around 380hp with a good hooking car and 60's in the 1.65's. I doubt if 380 is on the cards with those motor specs, heads are good but the cam is a tad mild. I would say 340 with those Eddies at a guess (perhaps more?) which could put you in the mid 12's@107. 3.91's and a 2500 stall is weak for the track, I would use a 10x28 tyre and 4.30's with at least a 3000stall, I would say 3500, that would improve your 60's/ET and have you trapping the 1/4 @ around 6000rpm w/slip where your power should be.....my 2C's.

I say your weak link is tires and converters. 340 make good power but not at low end (rpm) and in a e- body makes it even harder.
I would say 3500 minimal stall, some good Drag Radial(real slick would be better) and you might get there.

run what you built, tinker and tune it. Then step up to the above suggest.

A 10 sec car with a stock distributor, 2500 stall and street tires will never be close to its 10 sec potential.

tune up what you have and go from there.

Looks like the initial question was asked some time ago, but my take on this is that 11's won't happen with this combo. The gear ratio is fine, converter should be more like 3500, and it needs sticky tires like slicks or Mickey Thompson drag radials. Even with those changes, honestly I think the cam is too small to make the power needed to run into the 11's, but you never know...Otherwise the combo is great as is for a quick street car.

My 408 ran12.05 with LAX heads and hughes 228/232 hydraulic cam. 750 Holley, RPM intake. I estimated it at 400 hp. I'm thinking you should run mid to high 12s. 900ft altitude here.
