Next project... Wheel bearings went out, spindles are apparently harder to find than I thought. Options?

Wheel bearing ate passenger side spindle this morning, took both sides apart and figure I better replace both for safety. Was hoping to just throw OEM stuff back on for a big show this weekend but not finding any options at any of the big auto parts stores. Summit has a Right Stuff pair of aftermarket spindles but it doesn't say what bearings work with it, though they recommend a set of bearings that are listed for a bunch of Chevy and Ford applications. I'm pretty much out of time right now to get stuff ordered and installed in time, so...

unless someone has a spare passenger side spindle laying around they could get to me quick, I may as well look at what upgrade options there are for this thing. If I'm going to spend the money and time to redo it, may as well upgrade! What have folks done in the past and liked?

I’d say hang in there on the oe parts.
They work well when in order. You can can find em. Try Stephen’s or Tony”s.
With that said, I have bought from either since 2008. I do like the factory parts though.

Yep pretty sure I'll order those up. In the meantime, I'm considering throwing new bearings on this one just so I can make the show this weekend. Maybe not. I'll see how it looks tomorrow if I can get the outter bearing on or not.

I've got it cleaned up enough I csn throw bearings in it and make the show. I'll order the Dr Diff ones and probably upgrade the brakes to 11" while I'm at it afterwards.

I'm not convinced that blue is heat damage. Too uniform, only on tapered portion, scratches off easily, and the other side that didn't blow out is the same just a hair darker.

Will know more tomorrow, on whether I trailer to the show or drive the back roads. 😆

That blue looks like a rust proof coating if it was blue from heat definitely wouldn't come off easy. There's no blue where the bearing sits which would have been ground zero for the heat. If the bearing is a little loose on there you can stake it a few times with a centre punch to reduce bearing to spindle clearance.

That's what I started thinking, no way it would be that uniform and only on the taper, with the bearing contact areas not affected.

Put 60 gentle miles on today and it did great.
