Temp Cable for heater valve control

So I finally got around to routing this and the inner cable/wire seems to be too long. Any advice here? I was thinking of heating it and coiling it around the valve’s connection point, then trimming the extra. Don’t want to ruin the cable tho in case I’m looking at it wrong.

Might be worth noting I am using the four seasons valve and not the original.

I ran into the same issue with the aftermarket valve. Bent a new loop in the wire and trimmed the excess. Works fine.

I think you need the part in pic on post 14 called "self adjusting clip".
It hooks onto the cable then slides onto the pin on the water valve.
It's not really self adjusting though.

On non AC cars the cable moves a door to block heat from the heater core. That cable you have is hooked up to the door to block heat from the heater core and is hooked up on the top of the heater box. So I don't think it'll do what you want with an AC water valve. Check to see if they list it for AC cars or non AC cars.
Hi I have an ac car and I'm not using the ac. Question is what do I do with the cable? Any help is much appreciated. I need to get this car back on the road I have the dash out now and that cable is just cut off 1inch from where it mounts. For now I'm ok with just using heat. So can I use heat without that cable be hooked up to anything? Or do i need to buy the cable and whatever it would hook up to? Thank you

Do you have the four seasons heater control valve, or an original? Maybe post a pic of it and we can help. If you’re just using heat, you could manually open the valve under the hood. Problem is you’ll always have hot water flowing through the heater core, which might make it hot during summer.

Where is it cut? From the heater control panel? You could just remove it from the slider that controls temp, and take the screw out of the little plastic flag that connects the cable to the heater control panel. Let me tell ya tho, it’s a pain in the ass to install the cable with the dash in. I’d buy a cable while the dash is out, connect it to the heater control box, and fish it through when you install the dash.

I have a car that is totally torn down and being put back together. I want to put the cable in but I don't know where it goes I can't find any visible location on where it goes or would go to the heater / ac box.
Which is where I thought it would go. So I'm assuming it went straight out the firewall. Which I hav nothing in the engine bay to hook it to( no engine In The car yet.) I don't mind not having ac for now just looking for any help on what to do to just run heat. If I have to buy the cable and the part it hooks up to I will no problem I just don't know where it goes. I'm just ready to get this car on the road it hasn't driven in 21 years!! Since I bought it and tore it down to the frame in 2004 it's time. Thank you for any help

Nice ride! What is left of the cable is connected correctly.

Posts 5, 7, and 11 show where it comes through the firewall. Sounds like there are two options of where it goes, depending on the year.

In post 14 you can see the valve on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It has two heater hoses to it. That post shows what looks to be an original valve. It bolts to the inner fender well.

Here is a stock picture of the aftermarket valve I have. Unfortunately it doesn’t bolt up to the original holes, I think you need to make a bracket for that. I can take pics under my hood later. I wanted to put the vintage air into which I assume would have eliminated this cable. But the money spent is never ending when I ripped this thing down I threw it all away intending to buy all new and that has gotten really really expensive now im at the point it needs to be driven before I die ac can wait. Thank you!!
