That "gasoline" smell - is it normal??

Thanks guys!!! Great input on not using a screwdriver :) to loosen the old unit. So can I replace the sending unit with a less than full tank of gas?

I would also test the new sending unit before I would reinstall the tank, just in case it doesn't work properly. Make sure to have a good ground or the gauge will not read correctly.

Just one other thought on the fumes as my Cuda had this issue. I had to readjust the trunk latch to seat the deck lid better around the seal. Long of the short was I had a bad seal around the trunk allowing fumes to come back into the car. Worth a shot.
