Hoping someone has an under dash trim piece 2984953 in black for Challenger w/ AC. Has the map light positioning on it as well. Mine is in 3 pieces so, that’s 2 too many! Thanks folks!

You can repair that part a lot easier than you can imagine. ABS plastic is very easy to chemically weld together with acetone and plastic mixture.

Chemically weld it. Get some spare abs black plastic (can be bought on Ebay for a few bucks, or use old grill pieces, or ABS pipe from hardware store). Break those pieces into small bits and dissolve them in acetone in a small lidded jar. Just have to cover the plastic pieces. In a day or so of soaking, stir them up into a goo glue type substance. The acetone plastic mixture will chemically weld the tab together making a very strong repair. Once it dries, you can sand it down.

Almost every dash trip piece on my 71 had to be repaired. Saved a lot of bucks, really hard to tell it has been repaired, or even can't tell. The under dash piece is not very visible installed so it is a good piece to repair.

Do you have a full picture of what this trim piece looks like on both front and back.

Is it for 1970 Challenger AC only.

Yes I’ve put the three pieces along where they would fit to the bottom of the dash frame. I’m missing one more piece on the far left that would complete the molding piece. Part number 2984953 and I believe it’s a 70 or 71 trim piece with ac.
Thanks for asking,

Here's a few photos of a repaired dash piece I have. You are missing the end towards center of car from screw hole out.

Yup that would be the piece. Are you using it or just parts? I guess I’ll have a go at the Chemical weld process to repair mine, and maybe even make a new end for screw mounting. I’ve got acetone and some sheet abs material so we’ll see how it turns out. If even I had a mold of the end I’m missing I could make a new piece. Here goes!!
Thanks for the chat and sharing.

It's just a spare I have. If you need a close up photo of the end, let me know.

Did you get my pm?
Got what you wrote on my profile this afternoon, I sent you a Pm you can reply to. Here are pics of the green one. It's very dusty. It has a hairline crack at one end and one screw hole has a crack but no missing pieces. The pics show what I am talking about.

Here is the black one. I was going to send it to a guy here in Pa. but he retired from doing this type of work.. So here it is. Has the small end broken off but the second one has a nice end to repair it. This also has a hairline crack at the one end the last pic shows it.

Sometimes, hair line cracks can be fixed just be using straight acetone applied to the crack with a small paint brush. I have also found that some cracks repair better if the crack is ground into a v-shape or at least enlarged enough to get the acetone goo glue into the area.
