Are there any experts here on the Challenger WSS cars? I came across this car that doesn’t have the code on the FT but has its own tag. Anyone seen this before?

I'm not an expert. I know of it. Only seen one in person.
The Western Sport Special (WSS) was a 1970 Dodge Challenger regional appearance package, option code A91, priced at $199.50 and sold exclusively in the Los Angeles and San Francisco markets. Approximately 1,615 units were produced, making it a rare collector's item distinct from performance models like the R/T or T/A.

Key Package Features:

  • Exterior: Vinyl roof, rear fender decals, rear Astrotone taillight panel, bumper guards, and 14-inch Rallye wheels with white-wall tires.
  • Interior: Woodgrain instrument panel applique, rim-blow steering wheel, sill and belt moldings, and a remote control mirror.
  • Engine Options: Primarily built with the 318ci V8 (1,066 units), with smaller numbers of 225 Slant Six (145 units), 383 V8 (381 units), and rare 340 V8 (23 units) variants.
Production is widely believed to have occurred at the Los Angeles plant, though documented examples exist from the Hamtramck plant. The package was discontinued after 1970, with the name previously appearing on 1969 Dodge Darts.

Hi Mike, glad you can validate your WSS. I'm believing how they got thier start was a group of Dodge dealers got together, forged an idea for a special model to sell on the west coast. So by mid Dec. they made thier debut. Mainly a cosmetic option not a performance option. I believe later in the 70 year with the closure of the LA plant some orders were transferd to Hamtramck. SL-6 (145), 383, 2 bbl (381) and a little over 1000 for 318 cars. There have been some 340 cars known of. As for my car all of the SE, WSS trim inside and out on an early built car. According to registration sold 1st time May 1970. And no, vynil top. Here's the kicker "Western Sport Special" decals on upper rear quarters??? Barry Washington is a real knowledgable guy on these cars. He has a registry.
This is a LA built WSS. Very well decked out!
The one that slips through the cracks. Even an N95 that gives it a birthmark.
