Can someone tell me what this electrical harness that comes out of the passenger side frame rail in the engine bay goes to? Starting to strip my car getting ready for body work and want to make sure I know what everything goes to for later.

Mopar didn't use the plastic ribbed harness cover....Mopar didn't have a harness that went through the frame rail. With that said, the one connector goes to the output of the alternator, or at least that is what the plastic cover over the connector is supposed to go.

That is the wiring to the alternator. It is the hot (the shielded round connector) and the 2 field terminal wires. Over time it has been respliced. From what I can see, I would be getting at least a new engine harness.

Maybe get it out of the frame rail and remove that ugly covering and see what condition the wiring is in, if there is any butchery hidden by the ribbed cover then replace the harness.

Big black, smaller green, blue and brown wires are factory. Anything else was added.

Was already planning a complete new harness anyway since it is getting new motor and everything under the hood. Was just trying to keep track of things I am pulling off the car. Pulled most of the rest of the harness from the bulkhead.

If in fact it's not supposed to be there I'd plug it. It's easy enough and since the whole car is getting painted anyways.
