On this day in 1975 the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior. This Challenger belonged to a crewmember and was waiting for him when he got back. He never saw it again.

I definitely know that today is the anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald but never heard the story of the Challenger. Cool looking car for sure...

I remember the song about it by Gordon Lightfoot "the Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald " , did not know it was the 10th Anniversary today.
Sharp car, tragic ending.

Actually it is the 42nd anniversary. Seems like only last week though. I visited the museum in the late seventies at Sault Ste. Marie that had the Edmund Fitzgerald's life boat on display. At that point it was the only thing that had been located. Very emotional to stand and look at the banged up boat.

Just curious Mopar Nut, how did you come to know the story and have the photo?
There was a article in a magazine that featured that Challenger awhile back, I’ll have to look for it and post it. Very sad indeed! :(

I remember reading that in one of the Mopar mags... they found a zippo lighter under the seat with the ship or company logo...

Yikes, pardon the "10 Anniversary" typo. No idea how that happened...
New issue might be worth picking up.
