Finally getting to my wiper motor , when the shop put in all new wiring they said the wipers keep blowing a fuse and said I need a new one , I went to check and see if it blows when unplugged but discovered this , what are my options here , is there a new wire harness or pigtail I can get , I need a safety inspection soon and need wipers , I never planned on using them but for it to pass I need wipers , thanks for any info .

it may just be wired wrong. check the FSM wiring diagram, against what you have, and how they are hooked up. If you need to know the colors of those black painted wires, some acetone and a rag may clean those up enough to identify them.

As mentioned, check the wiring to make sure it's correct.
If needed, clean up or redo the splices, nothing wrong with that, if done right.

Im checking the switch and when I pulled it away from the dash 2 wires were disconnected , it doesn't have the pigtails , this is how I have it wired and it works but won't shut off , keeps going even in the off position , I wasn't sure about the brown wire so I moved to the W post and got nothing , any advice.

Is there a part number stamped (I think it's white ink) stamped on the side of that wiper control switch?
I think you got a 72 and later wiper switch.

Is this on a 1973 car? That looks like a 1973 motor, in post #1. And post #6 depicts a 1972-74 3-speed (not variable) switch.

"The shop" that installed the wiring, their strength is not electrical, if they are using those dollar store crimp-thru-the jacket connectors, but they should work for a few years. Even the aged factory connectors are better than those.

I reviewed your current wiring you have pictured, compared them to the 1973 schematics, and as far as I can see, it's connected correctly. With one exception, the BR (brown) wire to switch terminal W is missing. This presumes the brown wire pictured, is actually the BR* (brown wire with white tracer) The schematic shows the missing BR wire powers the washer system (hence the terminal W), and should NOT pop the fuse, simply because it's missing.

The P (pink) wire, while it appears connected correctly, goes to the fuse. With that one wire disconnected, it should not blow fuses, but I speculate the wipers will not function without it.

So presuming the color of the wires is correct, and they feed from the switch over to the motor, using the correct ports on the bulkhead connector, and the colors don't change, all that remains is a faulty switch.

I just typed a response when you posted this , good timing , I think its good , wasn't grounded when I tried it .

And get the FSM (factory service manual) it's a free download with a little googling. mymopar and e-bodies.org have copies one can download for free. You may find this troubleshooting page handy.
