You can do a 22" triple high efficiency rad give you have the 22" opening but you still want a 17" clutch fan + shroud

Best to go with the factory proven HD cooling system. Seven blade fan with clutch, shroud, and 26" radiator and you can't go wrong.
sounds good . i have to measure my opening on my radiator support next visit to body shop . hopefully tonight or tomorrow. if i can use a 26 is a two core ok ?

Since your car was a non A/C car the radiator opening will only fit a 22" radiator and if you did want to fit a 26" radiator, you will loose 2" of cooling per side. I would do like Chryco Psycho said and buy a good 22" radiator.

Since your car is painted and you may not want to modify the radiator passenger panel, a good two row aluminum radiator will be fine. Make sure you get a fan shroud, that's a big part of the cooling.

All of my classic cars are factory cooling systems with no issues unless I get stuck in something like the Woodward Dream cruise which can take hours to get a mile. The temps will definitely creep up. However, my blue Challenger makes more than double the horsepower of my more stock-ish with a custom made aluminum radiator with dual electric Derale electric fans and it runs cooler than all of my other cars all day long.

so my car measures for a 22” radiator. i’m starting to search for one now . i definitely look as psycho suggests for a hi flow 3 core in 22” . even after measuring the rad whole looks bigger then 22” but the tape don’t lie . if anybody knows a source please pass on that info . and thanks all for your advice …

I have not used this particular radiator supplier, but it looks good. They give lots of dimensions including fan shroud dimensions.

I think a two row or three row would be better than a four row. The rows in the two or three row will be wider than the one with four rows and help with cooling better as the fourth row in a four row radiator is blocked by the previous three rows.

Remember, it's airflow being forced through the radiator by fan suction at low rpms (idle) and airflow through the grill opening(s) at higher speeds. More flow the better.
