'73 Cuda Console question

This might be an elementary question, but I thought I would ask rather than going through trial and error. How do you remove the console from a '73 Cuda automatic? Do I need to remove the wood grain bit and find mounting hardware underneath?

Also remove the slap stick handle too, if your car has one. It will get in the way when you remove the console itself.
