I can't speak for how the '71 Challenger 340 fuel line/fuel filter configuration is but I do know it was different for the '72-'73 340 Challenger. Here's a page out of a late '72 Chrysler Parts parts catalog. As you can see the fuel filter is on the inlet side of the pump. The fuel line I'm having trouble with is the 1-piece line, not the 2-piece line like I stated in my initial post. Thanks everyone that has chimed in on my post so far, it's most appreciated.View attachment 140916
You are correct. Just looked at my 73 Dodge Service Manual and it states " Fuel filter is on the suction side of fuel pump" and even shows a picture (see Fig. 25).
Back to searching my receipts. Fuel Filter.jpg.

In case anyone is interested here's an update to the one piece fuel line dilemma I was having with my '72 340 Challenger Rallye.

SSTubes/Fine Lines finally came thru after I sent to them detailed measurements and photos. As noted in my original post the first one they sent was short by approx 2 inches (it was an in stock item). They made a replacement using the measurements and photos but it got lost at the local FedEx shorting facility. The second replacement arrived today (via UPS) and was installed without any issues.

Apparently I was the only customer that has order this item since they started manufacturing and stocking it.

Now if I can only find what I did with the Fast Idle Solenoid.
