Well it looks like the Duster I just completed before the Mopar Nationals is in the current issue of Mopar Collectors guide, too bad I don't have the online subscription to read about it ..looks like I'll have to wait till the paper copy shows up at my door.

The long tag is an inspection tag found on Hamtramck plant cars. The fender tag was made from the Broadcast sheet, I had to send body VIN number pics for verification Dave @ MMC Detroit to authenticate that everything matched. I was very impressed with his knowledge and customer service. If you have never visited his website, you should.

Thanks shifts like a hot knife through butter now and goes into Second gear and stays in fourth, it use to pop out of fourth gear when I let off the gas. Here is comparison photo of the difference in clutch forks(bottom one is the new correct length fork).

According to Brewers Performance website it looks like small block trucks and 68-up small block A bodies used a 12 1/2" fork, the majority of B & E bodies used a 10 7/8" fork. When I bought the car 26 years ago it had a hopped up 68' 383 in it, now I find that the transmission is date coded to 68' and the rear leaf springs part numbers are out of a B body so I'm going to assume the transmission is from the same B body that all the other parts are from.

That's beautiful, probably better than when it was new. Can I ask what he charges?

Well nothing to show....Just been tracking down some date correct missing parts like a set of 3418621 & 3418623 exhaust manifolds, 4972S Carter thermo quad carb, DR111429 fast idle solenoid and Clutch safety switch. I restored the Shaker assembly & Gull wing, sent out many parts to have re-plated like taillight housings, front turn signal housings.

Here are a couple pics of the new or restored parts. Unfortunately the front marker lights are cracked but I installed new pigtails and lens and they will work until the full restoration, I have a NOS set that will be installed at that time. I also picked up a set of amber road lamp lens to be different. I kind of like them.

Thanks,
SMS rebuilt the E brake pedal
S.F. Restorations did the taillight housing
I installed new fender louvers since the OEM ones were pitted. I'm currently repairing an extra grille I got with the car that had a few cracks and am going to prep it for paint since it should have a color matched grille according to my research and the SPD. I also need to pick up a exhaust manifold heat riser valve for the passenger manifold, I'm not going to install the valve just the shaft, counterweight and springs.

So I'm fixing some problem issues in the car so it is safe to drive this summer before I totally strip it and give a full rotisserie restoration, and found some part numbers and tags I thought I would post in case there of interest to anyone looking for little details. First is part number 3442638 found on the back side of the passenger side headlight bracket looks like it also had a Red Oxide primer. The second was on the upper part of back seat, funny thing is I had that seat in and out several times 27 years ago when I first owned the car it and never noticed it. it was sewn to the fabric, once I removed it and taped it all together I reinstalled it for now (till the restoration) along with a copy of the broadcast sheet, I will try to have it remade and sewn back in properly when I have the seats redone. FYI...I had the seat out to run a new wiring harness to the rear, just like all the front so everything works properly. Enjoy

I decided to clean off 46 years of grease and road grime on my 1971 340 'Cuda yesterday and found several paint inspection marks, I found some slight remains of a yellow axle code on the left axle tube, Orange and white paint daubs on the bottom of the carrier, A yellow "G" to the right of the housing pumpkin but I cannot make out the white marks on the pumpkin itself. It looks like a sideways "J" but the other mark below that looks like it might have been a tilted "A" but some of it is missing, I know no two cars were the same but has anybody seen similar marks that will help me figure out how those marks could have looked when applied ?
