I spent a little time looking through the parts manual for numbers related to valve bodies but got a little lost. I'm trying to find casting/part numbers for 727 valve body used with a 440-6 engine. I may be assuming incorrectly that the valve body would be different depending on the engine size and HP?

Any help appreciated.

Thank you
M.

I already mentioned this in one of your "reversing the reverse valve body" thread. seek out the part number of your existing transmission. the number is in the form:

PK0000000 0000 0000

and is stamped into the left side of the case flange just above the oil pan, and is about 1/4-inch high.

That PK number correlates with the part number in the dealer parts book.

transmissions wear out. and on a 50+ year old car, it's possible the transmission was rebuilt and/or serviced by a shop sometime in its history. For same-day service, it was customary to swap out the whole transmission when a repair was needed. Don't be surprised if your transmission is not the exact one the car was shipped with.

The one in my 1970 440 car is PK3410672
