No ethanol for me , I had a 440 tuned for non ethanol but was forced to use ethanol in it 1 time , I thought I had damaged the engine running it lean, forunatly it was ok once I burned off the ethanol fuel .
Ethanol free fuel costs more and down here is only 90 octane... which is inadequate for higher compression engines. I need to run 93 to make my engine happy. If you can get ethanol free, run it.
Ethanol absorbs moisture which is one of the major problems with it.
Plus, ethanol has an unstable octane rating.
My best friend made ethanol for a large fleet of trucks for a company.
He was the mechanic and did a ton of experimenting with the product.
He would check the actual octane at the pump for a few years and not once did the octane rating show any consistency.
With what he made it was a little more consistent but he did have more issues with fuel systems across the board of the fleet of trucks.
I was fortunate enough to see all this first hand and learned to stay away from it when possible.
Plus, why in the world are we using Corn to make fuel? People starving and all ya know.
We have more oil than humans can use in hundreds if not thousands of years. Using corn has to be the stupidest thing ever.
I have another good friend who is a corn farmer.
Corn is part of his livelihood and he says using it a fuel has got to be the dumbest thing ever. Even if the gov makes him be involved in the fuel trade of which dictates his value of the corn.
Can anyone say that Ethanol is good? In anyway? Anything?
