New to Mopars 1973 Challenger purchased during the restoration reassembly process whats the deal with these HEAVY iron bumper reinforcements do these normally get put back on if you don't plan to jack her up from the little tear holes in the bumper ??? thanks in advance for any help greg

Well, back in 1973 the Government mandated bumpers that would with stand a 5 mph impact with out doing major damage to the car. Mopar put bumper extensions to move the bumpers away from the body, added large rubber impact bumper guards and reinforced the bumper mounts. If you don't like the looks, you would need to locate 1972 complete bumper assemblies. 1973 was also the year that electronic ignition and front disc brakes became standard on all Chrysler automobiles.
