Does anyone know why GY3 Citron Yella/Curious Yellow was only available for the one year 1971?
Opinion, hearsay or Chrysler factoid welcomed.
Thanks Steve

One popular theory is there was a Swedish soft **** (at the time) movie "I am Curious Yellow" that inspired the Plymouth color, Chrysler got some flack so they discontinued Plymouth Curious yellow, and with it went Dodge's Citron Yella.

Hazardous/Controversial Nature: While not a chemical hazard, this erotic, politically charged art-house film was the subject of a massive censorship and obscenity battle. Seized by US Customs and banned by several classification boards, the ensuing legal dispute went all the way to the US Supreme Court.
  • Controversial Name: The color name was a nod to the 1967 Swedish erotic drama "I Am Curious (Yellow)," which was initially banned in parts of the U.S. due to obscenity. [1]
  • One-Year Wonder: Because of the controversial association, Chrysler dropped the color after only one model year. [1]
  • Extreme Rarity: Experts estimate that less than 0.5% of all Mopar vehicles were ordered in Curious Yellow, making surviving original models incredibly rare and valuable. [1]
