whats the differance between 318 heads and magnum heads,seen add on clist and was wondering is it worth switching the heads

You'll have to change the intake as well. Different bolt angles. I do hear that the magnum heads work well but have no personal experience.

The Magnum engine oil went tru the pushrods to lube rockers. The stock 318 oils thru thr rocker shaft. Must get special pushrods and lifters, head bolts, valve covers,

In other words, is it worth it when you can hunt down a set of 302 heads that'll bolt right on?

I agree the 302 or 308 casting is far easier , better design as well , the shaft rockers do not limit lift travel & are far stronger

The 302s use the Magnum type exh port but the intake is very similar to the stock LA 318 port. However, there are advantages to the Magnum hedas in that the intake ports are a bit better, and the rocker ratio is increased to 1.6 from 1.5. If you can get a set that is in good shape, and your combo is mild, they are a good bolt on. But, if they need work, or are cracked-but-not-leaking (which is very common) it's wiser to simply order a set of Engine Quest Magnums which are superior in terms of casting and can be gotten in the LA intake pattern.
The 308s are 340/360 sized and open chamber, all of which IMO would be a mistake on a mild 318.

it woulod depend what rockers you use , most recommend Chev rockers which are only 1.5 ratio
