I have a 71 hemi cuda clone and noticed a random blue wire coming from the alternator and going no wear. It has a plug at the end but is not connected. My car started out as a automatic 6 cylinder and was transformed into a 4 speed 426 hemi, see pics below,
could it be a wire for a AC compressor that way removed??

More importantly can I remove it???

Double check my info, as it is from memory. To run/ charge etc, the alternator has the large output wire which is always hot. The two field wires, which are interchangeable, position-wise, are hot when running, and that’s it. But the blue wire on some is used to power an accessory, when running, no voltage when the engine is not running. This is a good place to power an electric choke, or other minor draw. For an electric fan, or horns, I would power those directly from the alt output stud, or battery, using relays to switch them off and on.

Extra 12v power wire switched , can be used for idle solinoid or electric choke & yes you could remove it
