Does anyone have any experience with a speedometer that becomes noisier as you pick up speed? It seems worse on colder mornings, gets worse as the speed increases, and the speedo becomes both noisy and very inaccurate, reading much higher than the actual speed driven.

I have a A833 overdrive and some have mentioned that the tranny can cause this problem. I thought that was nuts, but after changing the cable and putting in another (used) speedometer, I'm curious.
Does anyone have some knowledge of what causes this?

I had two that done that. First was the one that was in it, the second was a "new" OER. When it starts to do it, pull over and reach underneath and disconnect it. See if you still hear the noise.

I guess I'd pull the cable for an inspection or at least disco at both ends and give it a spin.
